About GAINS 2023
GAINS is designed to provide innovators, engineers and
designers, the opportunity to understand the shipyard's core
business interests and its established practices giving them
visibility in such areas where they may not have previous
experience. GAINS, which is to be executed as an "Open
Challenge" scheme would be open to firms/ entities/
individuals (who are Indian Citizens), with a wide scope, that
could bring about significant efficiency enhancement as well
as development of equipment/ systems which would add value to
the products being delivered by the shipyard.
Applications/ proposals are invited from interested/ eligible
firms/ entities/ individuals to provide innovative
technological & business solutions to address challenges in
the ship design and construction sector (including equipment).
Process
GAINS Challenge envisaged as a two stage selection process to help generate a large number of ideas from which a few promising ones may be selected and nurtured.
Stage - I:
An initiation/ familiarization phase
is envisaged, post hosting of the Challenge, as some of the
entities/ firms/ individuals having expertise in the
thematic areas may not have exposure to the shipbuilding /
maritime industry and more so with the shipyard's processes
and procedures. During this phase, a
detailed webinar will be hosted
to provide information on GRSE's business interests,
expertise and general processes and procedures. Entities/
firms/ individuals would also be encouraged to visit the
shipyard for a first-hand appreciation besides brainstorming
with the GAINS team, to gain clarity on the objectives and
potential areas of work. Post familiarization process,
interested parties would be required to submit short
illustrated innovative ideas / solutions in the
GRSE prescribed format (click here).
This should also be accompanied by a rough order of cost,
development time and justification of professional
qualification/ competence of participant to successfully
implement the proposal. Proposals which are implementable
within a reasonable time frame and have the potential to add
value to the shipyard's business interests would be
considered for selection to advance to Stage - II. In case
of individuals (other than firms), proof of creation of a
firm/ entity is to be submitted for advancing to Stage - II.
Stage - II:
Shortlisted parties who have cleared Stage-I are
required to submit Stage-II proposal (Project Report) with
detailed technical description of the proposals, bringing
out clearly the implementation strategy, the advantages of
implementation, market potential, timelines, detailed
costing and estimate of Return on Investment (ROI). The
Stage-II submission will be followed by
interviews/presentations by the entity/firm. GRSE thereafter
decides the winner(s) who will then be invited for further
negotiations and potential award of contract for
implementation.
