The prestigious contract for construction of three Advanced Frigates under Project 17A was signed by GRSE on 20 Feb 2015 and is the largest ever order won by the company. P17A Frigates are state-of-the-art Guided Missile Frigates, built with latest Integrated Construction Methodology with enhanced pre-outfitting, to improve quality and reduce build periods. M/s Fincantieri, Italy, is the Knowhow Provider for Technology Upgrade and Capability Enhancement of the Frigates.
GRSE's maiden foray into the outfitting and installation of Brahmos SSM, MFSTAR antenna and LRSAM SAM during execution of Project 17A, bestows new capabilities on the shipyard and catapults it to the higher league of shipyards capable of building potent stealth frigates for the nation. With P17A, the shipyard has migrated to the digital realm and is successfully implementing AVEVA for the 3D modelling across multiple locations using a secured data network. Moreover, the vessels workflow has adopted the Siemens 'TEAMCENTRE' for Product Data Model and Product Life Cycle Management (PDM/PLM).
