MILESTONES
1884 — Inception of GRSE as a Small River Steam Workshop, on banks of Hooghly River, to repair river crafts of yore
1939-45 — Carried out construction, conversion and repair of over 4000 vessels during World War II
1960 — Taken over by the Government of lndia
1961 — First Shipyard of Independent India to indigenously build Warship - Seaward Defence Boat (SDB), INS Ajay - for Indian Navy
1977 — Changing name, "Garden Reach Worshop Ltd" was rechristened to "Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd"
1980 — Commissioning of CGS Rajhans - the First Ever Patrol Vessel built for Indian Coast Guard
2000 — Delivery of INS Aditya - the Largest Indigenously built Fleet Replenishment Tanker - to the Indian Navy
2006 — Conferred with Miniratna Category - I Status by Govt. of India
2006 — Acquisition of Dedicated Small Warship Construction Facility - the Rajabagan Dockyard (RBD) from CIWTC
2010-14 — Raksha Mantri Award for "Best Performing Shipyard" for four consecutive years
2013 — Integrated Shipbuilding Facility Inaugurated for Modular Construction
2014 — Delivered First Ever Warship for Export, CGS Barracuda for Govt. of Mauritius
2019 - Delivery of 100th Warship - IN LCU L-56 to Indian Navy, marked a watershed moment in the history of GRSE
2020 - 1st P17A Stealth Frigate, 'Himgiri' Launched, ahead of schedule
2021 - Export of Fast Patrol Vessel to Seychelles Coast Guard
2022 - Launch of 2nd P17A Advanced Frigate 'Dunagiri'
