Keel Laying of 5th Fast Patrol Vessel Ship - Yard 2117 on 20 Feb 18


  1. M/s. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd., Kolkata laid the keel of Yard 2117 (5th  of the series of five Water Jet Propelled Fast Patrol Vessel) for Indian Coast Guard on 20 February 18 at its Raja Bagan Dock Yard.  The ‘Keel Laying Ceremony’, a major milestone in the ship construction process, was undertaken by the senior most operative, Shri Ranajit Kumar Mondal, of the Raja Bagan Dockyard, in the august presence of Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE, Shri S.S.Dogra, Director (Finance), Shri A K Nanda, Director (Personnel), Commandant Atul Kumar of Indian Coast Guard and other senior officials.
  2. This ship will be constructed at Rajabagan Dockyard by adopting integrated construction technology which will ensure higher percentage of outfitting during launching, and is expected to be delivered to the Indian Coast Guard by end 2019.
  3. ‘Fast Patrol Vessel’ an improved version of Inshore Patrol Vessel earlier built by GRSE for the Indian Coast Guard, with an efficient hull form  has been developed in house and proved after extensive model testing to achieve speed in excess of 34 knots. This fuel efficient & powerful platform is well suited for patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching and rescue operations. This ship will be fitted with State of the Art Main Engines with Advanced Control Systems & Water Jet Units and an ‘Integrated Bridge System’ integrating all Communication and Navigation Systems. This ship will also have improved habitability features with fully air conditioned modular accommodation for 35 personnel.
